The IT Services Economics Group is a research group within the Technology Management, Economics and Policy Program of the School of Industrial and Management Engineering, which belongs to the College of Engineering at Seoul National University. The group, which includes 9 researchers, is headed by Prof. Dr. Jorn Altmann.
The research of the group centers on the interdisciplinary aspects of Internet technologies, economics, and sociology. The group analyzes the efficiency of technology, technology markets, and the impact of technology. Based on the analysis results, the group develops new architectures, decision support systems, and Internet technologies, which achieve economically efficient resource allocation based on economic and sociological models. These technologies are created in several areas, ranging from Cloud computing, Internet data centers, peer-to-peer networks, optical networks, Internet interconnection to services. Currently, two research projects are funded externally:
- GridEcon (Grid Economics and Business Models): GridEcon is funded by the European Commission and the Korean Ministry of Technology. This research project focuses on the economic aspect of Grid Computing. Prof. Dr. Jorn Altmann is the technical director of this project.
- IDChar (Inter-Domain Charging): The project focuses on inter-domain charging schemes between network service providers. Within this project, a new charging protocol is designed that considers the initiator of a traffic flow. The project is funded by DAAD of Germany.

The WIVE2010 - Web Intelligence and Virtual Entreprise will be held in Saint Etienne, France, on October 12-13 in conjunction with the 11th IFIP Working Conference on Virtual Enterprises (PRO-VE'10).

Dr. Peter Gloor of MIT, USA gave a seminar on "Collaborative Innovation Networks: Coolhunting through Swarmcreativity" at TEMEP on November 10th, 2009.

Prof. Dr. Bernd Kraemer of University of Hagen, Germany gave a seminar on "Engineering Service-based Applications with SCA" at TEMEP on October 27th, 2009.
